After a nine month hiatus, I decided to get the clubs out and go golfing today. I’ve been flaking on the Saturday golf game since I started commuting 3+ hours a day. I just can’t bring myself to get up at 4:30 AM on Saturday and drive 45 minutes out to the 909 on one of my two days of rest and relaxation. This all started to come together when DC called mid-week and said they were all coming out to play at brookside golf course a few minutes away from my house. I was quite surprised at how I played after the break, I started off really shitty but after the first few holes I got in the groove and did okay all things considered. After each hole when counts were being marked down, total over puts, I went with the no/no option and only decided to report my count when I actually made par. I ended with a 4/1 on the front 9 and a 3/1 on the back nine, 2 par’s our of 18 holes and a few major blowups, it was good fun. There was also a bit of fun when the driver of the cart I was in decided to drive like a jackass and take a sharp turn, tossing me out of the cart - take two running steps and then go for the baseball dive on my left side. It was early so the grass was still wet, which helped keep me sliding for a while. (Wish I had a camera for that)
